About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia with over 20 years of helping people navigate life's challenges.

My approach is collaborative and compassionate, grounded in honoring your story and the healing power of human connection. I believe in each person's ability to find balance, navigate challenges, and heal from the wounds that have affected them. As your ally and advocate, I'll work with you to explore how your experiences have shaped you, and help you find a pathway forward.

I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to share your thoughts and feelings, build on your strengths, and explore ways that negative thinking, patterns, and beliefs may be interfering with your goals.

Most of all, I believe in your resilience ~ the ability to weather the storms, acknowledge the pain, and move toward hope. It is a privilege to walk alongside you in your journey.

Rates and Insurance

Insurance Info

The practice is in-network with Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield. To determine if you have coverage through your insurance carrier, contact them and check your coverage, including  information about your co-pay or co-insurance, and if you have a deductible. For other types of insurance, the practice is considered out-of-network. In this case, you can check to determine if your insurance offers any reimbursement to you for out-of-network providers. The practice can provide documentation (sometimes called a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance carrier for this purpose.

You may choose not to use insurance for a variety of reasons. If you choose this option, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much services will cost you under the No Surprises Act. The practice will provide a Good Faith Estimate, and if you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill. For questions or more information, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

How can therapy help me?

Therapists provide support, problem-solving skills, and enhanced coping strategies for a variety of human experiences, such as depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, grief, trauma, and stress management. Therapy can provide a different perspective on a difficult problem, and help you look for solutions. Because every person's story is unique, therapy will be individualized, depending on your situation. In general, you can expect to discuss the current events happening in your life, your personal history relevant to your issue, and report any new insights gained from the previous therapy session. Depending on your goals, therapy can be short-term, for a specific issue, or longer-term, to explore patterns or past experiences that may be affecting you now.

Is everything we discuss in therapy confidential?

Confidentiality is an important element of a therapy relationship, as the process requires a high degree of trust so people are able to feel safe. You will receive a copy of a confidential disclosure agreement, and you can expect that what you discuss in session will not be shared with anyone. This is called “Informed Consent.” Sometimes, however, you may want your therapist to share information or give an update to someone on your healthcare team, but by law, your therapist cannot release this information without obtaining your written permission. The only exceptions to complete confidentiality are the legal and ethical requirement therapists have to report the following:

  • Suspected abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders requires therapists to report to the authorities, including child protective services, adult protective services, and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources, or

  • Clients who are in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person.
